Winter in Chicago is long and dreary. It is made tolerable with an escape to a warmer climate. I like to go to different vacation spots; not content to go to the same one year after year. A Venezuelan supplier of mine had suggested the Las Brisas Resort in Acapulco so we booked a weeklong stay through Orbitz. Interestingly eight days turned out to be cheaper than seven so we made the sacrifice. I have never visited Acapulco. When Aimee was a teenager she had gone with a girlfriend and enjoyed it. Acapulco was a popular Hollywood getaway in the 50’s and 60’s but for some reason it has gone out of style.

The Las Brisas Hotel turned out to be an awesome surprise. The hotel is a series of pink bungalows or casitas built on a hillside overlooking Acapulco bay to the north. We love it! We have a large room that opens out onto a deck with our own private but smallish swimming pool. We spend our first evening, watching the sunset over Acapulco bay while sipping a Rum and Coke on our private deck. We feel like royalty. This is going to be an outstanding week.
